Country Racing Manager (Thoroughbreds)
The Country Racing Manager (Thoroughbreds) is responsible for the management, development and delivery of the thoroughbred country racing portfolio in Queensland. Reporting to the Senior Racing Manager (SRM), the Country Racing Manager (Thoroughbreds) also has responsibility for oversight and when required management of the Central Queensland/North Queensland (CQ/NQ) TAB racing portfolio.​

Who are Racing Queensland?
Racing Queensland (RQ) is a statutory body whose primary purpose is to promote, enhance and provide a platform to service the industry across three codes of racing: thoroughbred, greyhound, and harness. RQ’s mission is to champion great racing and events which connect Queensland communities.
Racing Queensland is looking for a Country Racing Manager to join our Racing team on permanent basis with flexible work options.

Job Responsibilities

What you’ll do, day to day:
Managing the operations and growth of the non-TAB and CQ/NQ racing sectors with a view to maximising performance (racing and commercial), while being cognisant of community expectations in relation to animal care and welfare.
Acting in accordance with Racing Queensland (RQ) policies and racing rules while ensuring outcomes contribute to RQ’s strategic and operational objectives.
Managing, developing and implementing an annual non-TAB thoroughbred racing calendar.
In conjunction with Senior Racing Manager (SRM) developing and managing the CQ/NQ race dates calendar, carnival programs and country race series structure/programmes.
Developing frameworks for engagement of multiple stakeholders (government, industry and regulatory) including scheduling, briefing and information sharing.
Developing and implementing strategies and plans to actively manage issues and mitigate risks.
