Seymour Equine Clinic, Hilldene, Victoria
Full time, fixed term position available for the Breeding Season (August to January) – this may be extended to a permanent position for the right candidate.

Seymour Equine Clinic consists of a small team of five equine vets with great support staff. We have an interesting and varied caseload, with an emphasis on reproduction. Our team focus is to deliver exceptional veterinary care to our equine patients whilst providing excellent client communication. We are in a beautiful part of regional Central Victoria, with a large horse population, just over an hour to Melbourne CBD and less than two hours to the snow.
Our Clinic provides a base for our ambulatory services, as well as a range of facilities for onsite consultations, hospitalisation, dentistry and assisted reproduction. We service a number of large and small equine breeding farms, both thoroughbred and pleasure horse studs.

Job Responsibilities
NURSING
• Treatment, care and monitoring of any hospitalised cases or horses agisted for breeding examinations.
• Horse handling to assist veterinarians with examinations and treatments. Confident ability to handle stallions would be highly regarded.
• Laboratory work
• Maintain hospital, medical, laboratory and stock records with excellent attention to detail.
• Stock control.
• Cleaning of veterinary equipment and instruments. Responsibility for maintaining such equipment in good working order with appropriate records. Have a good understanding of infection control.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the practice premises, stables, yards and paddocks.
ADMINISTRATION
• Capacity to answer the phone and deal with clients’ enquiries in a prompt and professional manner.
• Implementing and maintaining practice policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate should have the following qualities:
• Excellent horse handling skills including stallions, mares and foals
• Be an honest team player with high moral standards and excellent confidentiality.
• Exceptional organisational skills, being able to multi-task, prioritise jobs and respond well to pressure situations.
• Be able to build and maintain excellent client relationships. Display a high degree of empathy towards the needs of our patients, clients and colleagues.
• Work efficiently and independently and have great communication skills with staff, managers and peers.
• Be punctual and reliable.
Experience and qualification in equine nursing will be viewed favourably, as would stud work experience.
