Calogo Bloodstock S.A. trading as Coolmore Australia (Stud), located in the Hunter Valley of NSW, is seeking applications for the following full-time position
Job Responsibilities
• Participate in the birthing of foals, administering medical treatment to foals and handing and training foals in their early education
• Monitor mare ovulation, pregnancy and newly foaled mares and assisting Veterinarian with scanning mares using ultrasound
• Foaling, including pre- and post-natal care of broodmares and foals (check presentation, helping with the delivery, monitoring foal after birth, checking the placenta, collecting and testing colostrum)
• Daily care of pregnant and dry mares (mares with no foal)
• Running mares through the crush for ultrasound scanning
• Holding foals in the crush for the Farrier and Veterinarian
• Closely monitor newly foaled mares
• Handle foals in the 9-day area
• Coordinate and administer fluid therapy
• Coordinate and administer veterinary treatments and drugs
• Provide pre and post-natal care of broodmares and foals and look after mares and foals
• Holding and preparing bloodstock for radiography and ultrasound
• Assist Veterinarian with all aspects of veterinary work, including keeping records of drugs administered
• Administering emergency veterinary care where required
• Ensure feeding and nutritional requirements of horses are met
• Obtaining samples from bloodstock for laboratory analysis
• Keeping up-to-date records of all veterinary, horse health, foaling and breeding related activities
• Other duties as required from time to time
• Ensure all work, health and safety standards are maintained

Job Requirements
• A relevant Certificate or higher qualification or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years professional experience
• A minimum of at least two years’ professional equine veterinary nurse experience is required
The salary for the position will be above award and based on your skills and experience in the range of $75,000 to $78,000, including guaranteed accommodation.
