Horse Trainer
Arrowfield Stud and Training Centre are currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join our team for the role of role Horse Trainer/Area Manager and Horse Trainer/Stallions. Position is full-time and available in Scone NSW.
Job Responsibilities
Horse Trainer/Area Manager – Duties will include:
• Manage equine biosecurity and infection control
• Manage people performance
• Ensure a safe workplace
• Plan and implement an enterprise horse training and breeding strategy
• Manage reproductive outcomes of stallions and mares
•
Horse Trainer/Stallions – Duties will include:
• Overseeing daily care and supervision of stallions
• Handling and training stallions in the breeding shed
• Handling and training stallions for parades and other stud promotion
• Assisting Veterinarians in attending to medical and health needs of stallions as required

Job Requirements
Essential Criteria
• A Certificate III or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years professional experience educating and training horses
• A minimum of two years’ experience handling and working with and educating thoroughbred horses, including stallions and mares
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbreds, including stallions, sales or breeding
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses and prepare horses for sale
• Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction; provide information and advice to others and prepare basic reports
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
• Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of breeding stock
• For the management positions the suitable applicant will require extensive evidence of managing a team and breeding operation
These are full-time positions, and the suitable applicant will need to commit to a minimum of two-years employment.

The salary will be above award – in the range of $75,000 to $80,000 per annum depending upon the level of responsibility
