Horse Trainer

Archibald Racing Pty Ltd is seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join our professional thoroughbred racing operation.
Full-time positions are available at Warwick Farm (NSW), Scone (NSW), Eagle Farm (QLD), and Flemington (VIC).

We are recruiting for the following roles:

Young Horse Trainer / Rider
Capable of riding 8–10 horses per morning, with a strong emphasis on pace/timed work and jump-outs.
Salary above award, $70,000 – $90,000 per annum, depending on experience and responsibility.

Horse Trainer / Foreperson (Senior & 2IC roles)
Responsible for educating young horses on the ground and overseeing a team and/or barn of horses.
Salary above award, $70,000 – $100,000 per annum, depending on experience and responsibility.

Young Horse Trainer / Rider

Ride and educate young horses, including pace work, timed gallops, and jump-outs

Provide consistent feedback on horse progress and performance

Work collaboratively with trainers and stable staff to meet daily training objectives

Horse Trainer / Foreperson

Educate young horses on the ground and oversee their daily preparation

Supervise and lead a team of stable staff

Take responsibility for a barn or allocated group of horses

Ensure high standards of horse welfare, presentation, and safety

Support trainers with planning, communication, and operational executio

Minimum 3 years equivalent full-time professional experience, OR
2 years equivalent full-time experience plus a relevant qualification

Strong knowledge and experience in thoroughbred horse training and handling methods

Proven ability to train and educate horses

Clear oral and written communication skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
(management experience required for Foreperson roles)

Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety obligations

Demonstrated safe operation of equipment and use of personal protective equipment

Desirable;

Certificate III or equivalent international qualification in a relevant field
