Horse Trainer – Full-time
Cannon Hayes Pty Ltd are currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join our team for the role of role Horse Trainer/Breeding. Position is full-time and available in Scone NSW.
Horse Trainer/Breeding
Duties will include:
• Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
• Educating and preparing young stock for sale
• Early education and training of foals and weanlings
• Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy
• Assisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals
Essential Criteria
• A Certificate III or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years’ professional full-time experience educating and training horses
• A minimum of two years’ equivalent full-time experience handling and working with and educating thoroughbred horses
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbreds, including stallions, sales or breeding
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction; provide information and advice to others and prepare basic reports
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
• Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
This is a full-time position, and the suitable applicant will need to commit to a minimum of two-years employment.

The salary will be above award – in the range of $75,000 to $80,000 per annum depending upon the level of responsibility
