Job Description

Giddup Pty Limited, situated in Regional Australia at Hawkesbury NSW 2753 are seeking an
experienced full-time, Horse Trainer/Polo Manager.
The purpose of this role: To meet all aspects of the Australian Polo operation requirements of
GiddIup Pty Limited and to support international horse training.

Job Responsibilities

 Manage a team of approximately 20 polo ponies (each valued at over AUD $20,000)
and four riders (two young professional players plus two client team riders)
 Develop and implement training programmes for the pony team: conditioning,
schooling, ridden work, match preparation, transition training for client-polo teams
 Oversee pony procurement and sales (buying, brokering, assessing, negotiating
purchase of polo ponies)
 Supervise and direct all aspects of pony feeding, nutrition, stable management, health
protocols, farriery, vet liaison, fitness tracking
 Ride and assess ponies in training and competition contexts to ensure readiness and
suitability
 Load, transport and drive the associated truck/trailer (pony transport) to events,
matches, training sessions and client pick-ups
 Enter teams into competitions, manage scheduling, coordinate with event organisers,
ensure equipment and logistics are in place
 Manage the staffing of the polo stable/farm: supervise grooms, assist with recruitment,
training of staff, delegation of tasks, performance management
 Oversee the business operations of the farm segment: pay bills, monitor budgets,
maintain inventory (feed, tack, equipment), ensure compliance with relevant
regulations (animal welfare, transport, workplace)
 Deliver high-quality client service: liaise with client riders, provide regular updates on
pony performance, schedule training and polo sessions, ensure client-team satisfaction
 Maintain accurate records of pony performance, sales, acquisitions, veterinary and
farrier invoices, transport logs and training logs
 Proactively identify opportunities for business improvement (pony sourcing, training
innovations, rider development, client engagement)
An appropriate salary of between $74,000 and $77,000 will be offered

Job Requirements

Experience in the polo industry is essential as a rider, trainer and head groom with good english and literacy skills.
