Job Description

Camyr Allyn, a leading thoroughbred spelling operation in the Upper Hunter Valley caring for upwards of 50 horses, is seeking a highly experienced horse person to join our team in the role of Spelling Farm Manager.

This key position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the farm and the horses in our care. The role encompasses both spelling and rehabilitation, with a strong focus on horse welfare, staff coordination, client communication and maintaining high operational standards.

Job Responsibilities

- Oversee the daily care and management of spelling and rehabilitation horses
- Monitor the health, condition, behaviour and progress of all horses
- Develop and manage individual spelling and rehabilitation programs
- Coordinate feeding, rugging, grooming, treatments and general horse care
- Liaise directly and professionally with clients and trainers
- Coordinate veterinary, farrier and other equine service provider visits
- Maintain accurate horse, treatment and client records
- Supervise and support farm staff
- Organise daily workloads and ensure tasks are completed efficiently
- Maintain clean, safe and well-organised yards, stables and work areas
- Ensure workplace health and safety procedures are followed
- Assist with the general operation and ongoing success of the farm

Job Requirements

The successful applicant will:

- Have extensive experience caring for and managing thoroughbred racehorses
- Possess strong knowledge of spelling and rehabilitation practices
- Have previous experience in a supervisory or management position
- Be confident working independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrate strong leadership and staff-management skills
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills
- Be comfortable liaising directly with clients and trainers
- Be computer proficient and capable of maintaining accurate records
- Have a strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Demonstrate a high standard of horse care, reliability and attention to detail
- Hold a current driver’s licence
