Stud Hand

This role requires an experienced Stud Hand to come on board, own the position, and really put their stamp on it. Based mainly at Wakefield Stud, you will be responsible for looking after our refurbished spelling facility, asssisting with the management of the dry mares during the upcoming busy breeding season, and helping with the upkeep and maintenance of the grounds and surrounding areas in conjunction with our farm crew. You will also be required to assist at our main farm Middlebrook Valley Lodge.

The role includes:
* Feeding and monitoring spellers and dry mares
* Playing a major role in the vetting of dry mares
* Transporting mares for service during the season when necessary
* Carrying out appropriate treatments including IV/IM injections and bandaging
* General upkeep and maintenance duties including mowing/gardening

You are an experienced and competent horseperson, that wants to turn a role into a career. You will be responsible for the new spelling operation at Wakefield Stud as well as both the permanent and seasonal dry mares on farm, along with all associated paperwork/treatments etc. Reporting directly to the Stud Manager, you will need a strong work ethic, great attention to detail and self-motivation, as you will be required to work independently at times, and also as part of a small team. Reliability and punctuality are non-negotiables, as is great communication as you will be required to liaise with various stakeholders on a daily basis. As you will also be required to assist at our main farm Middlebrook Valley Lodge as well, time-management skills are paramount.
