The Silverdale Academy – Empowering Future Leaders in the Equine Industry

Silverdale Academy in collaboration with TAFE NSW, is proud to offer the Statement of Attainment for Emerging Leaders in the Equine Industry. This course has been developed to address leadership priorities, communication and team dynamics in the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry. This course is a 3 day face-to-face workshop program, providing opportunities for discovery, interaction, reflection and mastery in learning fundamental leadership skills.

The Leadership Program aims to facilitate the development of ethical leadership and decision-making skills, foster effective team building and relationship dynamics, empower teams, enhance communication through technology, and instil leadership accountability and measurement of success. These outcomes are designed to elevate leadership capabilities within the industry and create a more cohesive and productive work environment.

The Program is catered towards individuals already holding leadership positions within the equine industry, such as Stud Managers, Foremen, Track Managers, Groundsmen, Head Stewards, and leaders within the hospitality and administration sectors.

The course is structured as a hybrid program, consisting of a one-hour online introduction, a three-day interactive workshop at either Silverdale Farm or Warwick Farm Racecourse, and two follow-up online sessions for continued support and skill implementation in the workplace.

The program is led by Jodie Moes, Team Leader TAFE NSW Technology & Business Services and  Leslie Hopping, TAFE NSW, Business, Leadership & Management and Human Resources, who both have extensive experience in technology, business services, leadership and management, and human resources. While the program primarily focuses on enhancing leadership skills, it also offers unique opportunities for practical learning and networking within the industry to ensure participants are well-prepared to apply their newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios. The program has also been specifically contextualised for the equine industry workplace.

Upon completion of the program, participants gain accredited qualifications and valuable leadership skills that enable them to progress in their current roles and pursue more senior positions within the industry. The Silverdale Academy has witnessed numerous success stories, with over 200 graduates benefiting from their Intern and Schools programs and securing them with employment within the equine industry.

Silverdale Academy offers several courses alongside the Leadership program, including Internship and School-based programs, which have now seen over 200 students graduate.

The 2024 Government Funded program will run over a 3-day consecutive workshop with introduction and post-workshop days delivered online via Teams. There will be two (2) initial separate course delivery options to best accommodate participant needs.  To gain access to the FEE FREE course – register your place asap.
