Job Description
Emirates Park is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Broodmare Manager to join our dedicated team to care and manage our high-class broodmare band. Emirates Park operates as a thoroughbred mare farm in Murrurundi in Upper Hunter NSW. Established in 1989 Emirates Park has been at the forefront of the breeding and racing in Australasia.
Job Responsibilities
• Horse care: Provide daily feeding and general care for broodmares, foals, weanlings.
• Health and well-being: Monitor horses for signs of injury or illness, administer medications and treatments including IV and Im injection, and assist with scheduling veterinary and farrier visits.
• Breeding season: Preparing mares for breeding,.
• Foaling season: Assisting with foaling down mares; Afterhours, pre and post foaling care, foal handling, and provide post-foaling care for both the mare and foal.
• Weaning and training: Help with the weaning process and train young horses to accept equipment and handle standard farm procedures.
• Sale preparation: Preparing mares for major sales.
• Record keeping: Maintain accurate records for all aspects of the horses' health and management.
• Staff Management: Manage a team of staff. Create and manage staff roster.

Job Requirements
• Horsemanship: Strong horsemanship and husbandry skills are essential for the hands-on care of horses.
• Attention to detail: High attention to detail is critical for monitoring health, managing records, and ensuring the safety of the horses and staff.
• Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work varied hours, including nights and weekends, especially during foaling and breeding seasons.
• Communication: Good communication skills to interact with the team, management, and potentially clients.
The successful applicant will have at least five years’ experience on a broodmare farm. A current driver’s license and experience towing a float is essential.
This is a live on Farm position.
