Job Description

Purpose of the Role:
To deliver high-quality horse-riding instruction while supporting the smooth and professional day-to-day operation of Meraki Equestrian Centre. This role focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and confidence-building environment for riders, while ensuring the highest standards of horse welfare, customer experience, and facility presentation. Stable management and supporting the owner within the business.

About Meraki Equestrian Centre:
Meraki Equestrian Centre is a growing, client-focused riding school and Equestrian Centre that is dedicated to building confidence in riders of all ages and abilities. We pride ourselves on exceptional horse care, a supportive learning environment, and creating meaningful experiences for both horse and rider.
Our programs include private and group lessons, rider programs, and school holiday activities, all delivered in a safe, structured, and positive environment.
We also provide agistment, we offer high-quality agistment, ensuring a high standard of care and well-being for all our horses on the property.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Horse Riding Instruction:
• Deliver structured, engaging, and safe riding lessons to clients of varying skill levels.
• Tailor lessons to suit individual rider goals, confidence, and ability, working with lesson plans and bookings system.
• Always ensure clear, safe communication and professional instruction.
• Monitor rider progress and provide ongoing feedback.

Horse Welfare & Management:
• Maintain the highest standards of horse care, including grooming, feeding, tack fitting, and general wellbeing.
• Assess horse suitability for riders and allocate appropriately.
• Identify and report any health or behavioral concerns.
• Assist with training and development of school horses.

Customer Experience:
• Create a welcoming, supportive, and professional environment for all clients.
• Build strong relationships with riders and families.
• Handle enquiries, bookings, and client communication where required.
• Ensure every client leaves with a positive experience.

Safety & Risk Management:
• Ensure all lessons and activities are conducted in line with safety standards.
• Enforce correct use of equipment and safe riding practices.
• Identify and minimise risks in all areas of operation.
• Respond appropriately to incidents and maintain accurate reporting.

Team Support & Centre Operations:
• Support daily operations of the center including lesson coordination and arena setup.
• Assist with mentoring junior staff or assistants.
• Contribute to maintaining a positive and motivated team environment.
• Ensure the property is clean, organized, and presentable at all times.

• Client retention and experience.

Skills & Attributes Required
Essential:
• Coaching or instructor qualifications.
• Experience in a riding school environment.
• First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Working with children check (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience with children and beginner riders.
• Ability to contribute to business growth and client engagement.
• Strong horse riding and handling skills, different areas preferred (jumping, dressage, western).
• Experience teaching or working with riders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of responsibility and safety awareness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Genuine passion for horses and helping people grow in confidence.
Personal Qualities:
• Positive, patient, and encouraging.
• Professional and reliable.
• Strong work ethic, motivated and honest.
• Adaptable and calm under pressure.

Once a level of competence has been displayed, you will be responsible for supervising and helping with the management of our valued volunteers under the guidance of Meraki Equestrian Centre.
