Horse Trainer

Archibald Racing Pty Ltd is seeking experienced and capable horse trainers and forepersons to join our team across multiple locations, including Warwick Farm and Scone (NSW), Eagle Farm (QLD), and Flemington (VIC).

These are full-time, hands-on roles suited to individuals with a strong background in thoroughbred racing. Positions range from young horse trainers/riders through to senior foreperson roles, with responsibilities varying based on experience and level of seniority.

Young Horse Trainer / Rider

Ride 8–10 horses per morning trackwork
Conduct pace/timed work and assist with jump outs
Educate and develop young horses under direction
Monitor horse health, behaviour, and performance
Assist with general stable duties and horse care

Horse Trainer / Foreperson (Senior & 2IC)

Oversee the daily management of a barn or team of horses
Educate and train young horses on the ground and under saddle
Supervise and support stable staff
Assist with planning and executing training programs
Ensure high standards of horse welfare and presentation
Communicate effectively with trainers and team members

Minimum 3 years full-time professional experience, OR
2 years full-time experience plus a relevant qualification
Strong knowledge of thoroughbred racing practices and horse handling
Proven ability to train and educate racehorses
Ability to work independently and within a team
Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal)
Sound understanding of workplace health and safety practices
Experience in the safe use of equipment and PPE

Desirable
Certificate III in Racing (or equivalent international qualification)

Salary
Above award salary based on experience:
$75,000 – $90,000 (Trainer/Rider roles)
$75,000 – $100,000+ (Foreperson roles)
Previous leadership or team management experience (for foreperson roles)
