Veterinary assistant

Seeking knowledgeable horse person with experience or interest in the veterinary industry.

Windarra Park Veterinary Clinic is an equine and large animal clinic based in the Adelaide Hills. We offer both in hospital and mobile services. We are currently seeking a casual/part time assistant, though this role may progress to full time for the right applicant. The assistant role is a mix of animal care/stable hand duties, nursing +/- reception with some flexibility to suit the applicant’s skill set and interests.
Start date flexible but position is available for immediate start on a trial basis.

- Assisting the vet with daily procedures - setting up, patient restraint and monitoring, clean/pack up
- Patient care, including mucking out stalls/yards, feeding, watering, rugging, taking and recording vital signs
- General cleaning and maintenance of the clinic and property as needed
- Stock control
- If interested, potential for progressing to a more reception, admin and/or marketing based role (or ideally combination of the two).

- Must have exceptional horse handling skills and be comfortable handling all horses and livestock
- Physically fit with no injuries affecting ability to handle large patients including running out for trot ups
- Reliable, able to work independently without supervision, happy to work alone or in a small team
- Attention to detail and observant
- Interest in a long term position and growing with the practice (not suitable for travelers or international vets)
- Must live locally (or willing to relocate after trial period) - up to 30min from Nairne/Brukunga
