HORSE TRAINER

Lees Racing Pty Limited is currently seeking a highly experienced Horse Trainer/Rider to join our team in the Hamilton South, NSW. The position is full-time with early morning starts and requires a person to work weekends on a roster.
• Horse Trainer/Rider – able to ride 8 -10 horses per morning (with particular emphasis on riding pace/timed work and jump outs).
Applicants should be able to ride horses each morning and should have experience riding fast and timed work. Experience handling and training breeding and young stock would be an advantage.
The salary will be above award – in the range of $70,000 to $75,000 per annum depending upon skill level. Accommodation may also be offered at a subsidised rate.
Essential Skills:
All applicants must have either a relevant qualification and a minimum of 2 years of full-time professional experience in the role or a minimum of at least 3 years full-time or equivalent experience. The applicant must be able to prove they are reliable workers. In addition, the following will be required:
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing and breeding
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
• Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of race and breeding horses
