Manager

Luskin Park is seeking an experienced manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the farm.
An integral arm of Matthew C. Smith Racing, the farm is home to approximately 80 horses in various stages of preparation, ranging from long term agistment and rehabilitation, to pre-training and full work.
The successful applicant will work closely with Matthew and his wife Melissa, as well as the foreperson who manages the horses in pre-training and training.

Laboratory Manager

Yulong Stud has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Laboratory Manager to join the Veterinary team within our business. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the on-site laboratory and supporting the veterinary services across all aspects of our thoroughbred stud operations.
Yulong is a growing thoroughbred stud based in Nagambie, Victoria. Spread over 4,000 acres across four adjoining properties, Yulong currently stands eleven resident stallions, manages approximately 700 broodmares and over 350 foals to yearlings. Consigning yearlings at all major sales throughout Australia, and with a racing team of over 200 horses, our Veterinary and Laboratory team experiences excellent job variety within a large-scale, progressive breeding operation.
Our veterinary facilities include a fully equipped laboratory with IDEXX hematology, chemistry, and blood gas machines, as well as the capacity for cultures and sensitivities, urinalysis, and faecal egg counts.
As the Veterinary Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for running and operating the lab, preparing and processing a range of veterinary samples to support timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment of our equine patients. You’ll work closely with our veterinarians and be a key contributor to our commitment to delivering high-level clinical care.
This is a hands-on, rewarding role within a passionate, collaborative team and would suit someone with a strong interest in equine health and diagnostics. You will be joining an established Veterinary team consisting of six resident Veterinarians, a Practice Manager, three full-time Veterinary Nurses, one part-time Veterinary Nurse, and Stud support staff. The Laboratory Manager plays a key leadership role within this structure, ensuring laboratory efficiency, compliance, and high standards of diagnostic support.

Everyday duties include: grooming, mucking out stables and paddocks, feeding and helping out with farriers and vets. • Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
• Proven ability to manage a small team
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
• Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of thoroughbreds
