The Position
Within the Levied Industries team, AgriFutures is seeking a Manager, Levied Industries to manage the Thoroughbred Horses program, and potentially the programs of other industries in the future. This role is key in managing the various projects to assist thoroughbred horses to grow, develop and be sustainable into the future. This role contributes to strategic direction, develop plans, assess proposals, and ensure projects align with industry strategy and deliver value for money.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Levied Industries, and working closely with the greater levied industries team, you will have responsibility to initiate, develop, and manage the operations of RD&E programs. Topical issues of importance to thoroughbred industry include animal welfare, disease and parasite management, workforce safety, breeding, and industry engagement.
An industry with passion, you will be busy, challenged but highly rewarded by immersing yourself in the sector, representing AgriFutures in the Thoroughbred Horses program.
Experienced 2IC Thoroughbred – Breaking & Pre-Training Facility | Queensland

Specialising in the unique and individualised care of approximately 60 broodmares throughout the breeding season, Cressfield are now seeking an experienced horse person to fill the role of Night Watch Foaling Attendant.
Commencing mid-July, and running to early November, the Foal watch Attendant will be required to work 12 hr shifts following a roster of 7 nights on, 7 nights off.
This role will be well supported by on farm management.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott are currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join our stable on a full-time basis. Positions are available at Randwick NSW and Flemington VIC.
Young Horse Trainer/Rider – able to ride 8 -10 horses per morning (with particular emphasis on riding pace/timed work and jump outs)
Young Horse Trainer/2nd Foreperson – able to educate our young horses on the ground, plus responsibility for a team and barn or horses.
Horse Trainer/Foreperson – able to educate our horses on the ground with ability to manage a team of horses and staff and prepare horse training reports for the head trainer and owners.
The salary will be above award – in the range of $75,000 to $90,000 per annum depending upon your skill level and the level of responsibility.
Essential Skills:
All applicants must have a minimum of 3-years full time professional experience in the role, or at least 2 years full time highly relevant experience and a relevant qualification.
In addition, the following will be required:
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Ability to plan and implement training regimes and feeding plans, record all horse training data and maintain horse training data and records may be required for senior roles
• Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
• Ability to work in a team, and independently (or proven management experience if the position is for a foreperson role)
• Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
• Proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills
