Yearling Preparation

We are on the lookout for an experienced horse person to join our team for the upcoming Yearling Sale Season from late October to mid April.
What You’ll Do:
* General husbandry —feeding, grooming, exercising, mucking out .
* Handle the yearlings to prepare them for sales inspections.
* Assist with basic training like leading, lunging, and helping them get comfortable with new experiences.
* Administer basic medications and bandages
What We’re Looking For:
* Sound experience with young horses and the ability to manage them quietly and confidently.
* A good understanding of horse behavior and handling.
* Ability to work well both on your own and with a team.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
*Must be physically fit and ready for the demands of the job.

Vinery Stud is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate thoroughbred industry person to join our team as Operations Coordinator. This is a full-time role based at our Hunter Valley location 10-minutes from Scone.
The successful candidate will possess excellent administrative, organisational, and communication skills, along with a strong knowledge and understanding of the thoroughbred industry. Reporting to the Stud Manager, this role also requires the ability to work as part of a team.
Experience with Ardex or a similar stud management program is essential, as are strong computer skills.
The remuneration package is negotiable and will reflect the experience of the successful applicant. The start date will be determined in consultation with the chosen candidate.

Trackwork Rider & Stable Hand

Young Horse Trainer/Rider – able to ride 8 -10 horses per morning (with particular emphasis on riding pace/timed work and jump outs)
Young Horse Trainer/2nd Foreperson – able to educate our young horses on the ground, plus responsibility for a team and barn or horses.

Essential Skills:
All applicants must have a minimum of 3-years full time professional experience in the role, or at least 2 years full time highly relevant experience and a relevant qualification.
In addition, the following will be required:
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Ability to plan and implement training regimes and feeding plans, record all horse training data and maintain horse training data and records may be required for senior roles
• Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
• Ability to work in a team, and independently (or proven management experience if the position is for a foreperson role)
• Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
• Proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills

Yulong is comprised of three farms in Victoria, all of which are an easy drive to Melbourne. The breeding side of the operation, Yulong Stud and Yulong Farm, are located in the beautiful wine region of Nagambie. Whilst the Spelling Farm, Yulong Park, located in Bayles, is a short drive to the Mornington Peninsula and Yulong Pre-Training Centre, located at Whiteheads Creek.
Yulong is a rapidly expanding operation which currently has 700 broodmares, 350 foals, 11 stallions and over 200 horses in training.
