We are on the lookout for an experienced horse person to join our team for the upcoming Magic Millions Yearling Sale Preparation from mid October to mid January.

What You’ll Do:

* General husbandry —feeding, grooming, exercising, mucking out .
* Handle the yearlings to prepare them for sales inspections.
* Assist with basic training like leading, lunging, and helping them get comfortable with new experiences.
* Administer basic medications and bandages

What We’re Looking For:

* Sound experience with young horses.
* A good understanding of horse behavior and handling.
* Ability to work well both on your own and with a team.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
*Must be physically fit and ready for the demands of the job.
* Most importantly, a genuine passion for working with horses!

Matt Laurie Racing requires experienced stable hands (full time or casual) for immediate start in our medium sized, busy racing stable.

We are located on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, ten minutes from Mornington Racecourse and operate from an outstanding, thirty-five acre, state of the art, manicured property in Moorooduc. Full time roles consist of six mornings per week, some afternoons and one Sunday per month (possibly more) on a rotating roster. Above award salary and overtime & penalty rates paid (time and a half and double time) for full time staff, plus paid race day strapping and paid race day driving if applicable. We are very busy so you could work up to 50 hours p/week and earn quite a lot!

Casual rate (under 30 hours per week) also above award & double time for Sundays.

International travellers MUST HAVE own accommodation & transport – please mention that you have accommodation in your application. A van is ideal as you are welcome to live on our property.
Unfortunately we do not qualify for the 88 days for working visa holders.

We are looking for experienced Stable Hands to join our Crown Lodge operation, located in Warwick Farm, Sydney.
Crown Lodge is the home of Godolphin’s two-year old’s, based at Warwick Farm Racetrack. Starting from their breaking prep, we take them right through to the trials and onto the races, playing a key role in developing their education and ensuring that they are as prepared as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out daily stable tasks including feeding, grooming, mucking out, rugging, trot ups, loading walker.
• Routine health checks, recognising signs of injury and or signs of an unhealthy horse and reporting concerns.
• Preparation of horses for trackwork, including grooming and checking shoes and general health of horse and correct selection of gear in addition to carrying out post track work procedures
• Preparation of horses and gear for race meetings and trials as well as taking nominated horses to and from the races/trials.
• General stable duties such as general upkeep and cleaning such as stable cleaning, drinkers, feed bins, tack, gear and equipment.
• Comply with company policies, procedures and industry requirements relating to safety and animal welfare, including Rules of Racing.
We want a passionate, reliable, and hard-working person whose love and admiration for horses is as great as ours.
Criteria:
• Sound horse handling skills, with experience and confidence handling young thoroughbreds in full training.
• Practical understanding of horse health care and welfare requirements, with prior experience providing direct daily care.
• Understanding of thoroughbred racing industry and operations, with understanding of racing stable operations.
• Experience handling young colts is desired.

Responsibilities as follows :
* Suitable person to help with mares foaling so must have experience foaling down
* Nite watch shifts will start while mares are foaling from late October to Mid January.
* Before late oct and after mares finish foaling Day role as Full Time Stud Manager is Available.
* Must be available to start at least by late October and be able to do a minimum 6 mth contract to March or April .First mare is due 10 November but could foal earlier in late October.
* Suitable applicant can start anytime from now before October if available and can do day role 5 days until foaling starts then switch to Nite Watch.
* Nite Watch will be with foaling alarms plus half hour checks and watching mares who look close to foaling closely in yards foaling boxes and paddock near barn.
* If not much is likely to foal since there are only 7 mares due suitable applicant can make up am feeds ready for day staff, handle foals teach them to lead and pick up feet groom them and mares and keep barn tidy and clean boxes yards.
* The whole area has lights over foaling yards and in the barn and nite watch caravan.
* If there are problems we have Vet after hours and other staff living on Farm should be prepared to come out and help with mares foaling at nite to assist in foals safe deliver.
* I will expect all staff to work as a team to help each other.
* Managing breeding of mares with Vet assiting Vet with AI of mares
