Watershed Farm & Bowness Stud are looking for a highly capable and confident horse handler to join our team at a busy farm located near Young, NSW to start now. This is a role for someone with extensive, hands-on experience handling young, unbroken horses — particularly those with a background in the breeding, racing or performance industry.
The role includes:
Educating and handling well-bred, unbroken weanlings and yearlings for sales preparation
Leading, grooming, and preparing horses for sales and inspections
General horse care, feeding, maintenance and farm duties
You must have:
Strong horse handling experience – especially with young, unbroken or green horses;
The ability to work safely, calmly, and confidently around valuable livestock;
A proactive, hardworking attitude and willingness to help across all areas of the farm;
Good communication, honesty and posiive teamwork skills.

Minimum commitment: 4+ months

Eligible for 88-day regional work (Working Holiday Visa)

Yulong Stud has a position within the Veterinary team of our business. Working alongside five resident Vets and four seasonal Vets, you will cover all aspects of a thoroughbred stud.
Yulong is a growing thoroughbred stud based in Nagambie, Victoria. Spread over 4,000 acres and across four adjoining properties, Yulong currently has eleven resident stallions and over 700 broodmares with over 400 foals to yearlings. Consigning yearlings at all major sales throughout Australia, and a racing team of 200 plus horses gives the Veterinarians great job variety and exposure to all aspects of the business.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and organised person who wishes to be part of a close-knit Veterinary team as well as learning the structure and management of a thoroughbred stud.
The suitable candidate would be joining an established Veterinary practice with a Practice Manager, four Full-Time Veterinary nurses, two Night Nurses and one Part-Time Veterinary Nurse, along with Stud support staff. The Veterinary team is a very friendly group with a strong passion to provide excellent patient care while still pursuing a good work life balance. With support from the other resident Vets, you will share the on-call roster with the option of having four-day weeks in the months of May, June and July.

Essential Skills:
All applicants must have a minimum of 3-years full time professional experience in the role, or 2 years full time experience and a relevant qualification.
In addition, the following will be required:
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
• Ability to work in a team and independently (or proven management experience if the position is for a foreperson role)
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
• Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses
In addition, the suitable applicant will need to demonstration that they are proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills.
